I have a (manila) card from President Nixon from the early 1970s. These were part of a mass mailing to thank WWII Veterans for their service, This one belonged to my Dad. While it is a mass produced card, it is still a letter with Nixon’s signature. Seems that it should be worth something.

It does not have his signature, it has a copy of his signature. Unless the signature is truly ink and you can prove he actually touched it personally it is nice, but not rare, it was mass produced.

Your local VA administration might know of museums looking for pieces, but without an actual signature don’t expect it to be highly valuable.

I had a car accident couple of months back. & trying to get fair diminished value for my car after repairs.The amount insurance adjuster is offering is very less. So I am considering of getting a diminished value auto appraisal expert to get me a fair amount. There are some websites like autoloss.com, www.diminishedvalue.com,www.autoappraisal.com,www.collisionclaims.com which claim that they have helped people getting a fair diminished value of the vehicle after accidents. They charge around $300 for the service and ask you to make payment in advance. I would like to know are these people real trustworthy to make them payment in advance and to hope them to take care of the whole diminished value affair with the insurance company. Suggestions and experiences are appreciated !

Bank 1: A credit has a promotion of 6.125 fixed for 30 years with “no closing cost” with no points. There’s a fine print where you pay for Title insurance, Lien insurance, recording charges, document tax, city & county tax, application fee of 65 to be refunded later. They require PMI for 5% down. The program only waives processing fee, underwriting fee, credit report fee, appraisal fee, and tax service fee. Bank 2: Another bank claims to pay all of the custom fees: Title insurance, application fee, document tax, survey fee, processing fee, underwriting fee, credit report fee, appraisal fee, ALSO NO PMI. Catch 22: Their rate is 6.65% to the most qualified client with no point. I asked the mortgage specialist why the rate is high and he said they have to make up for the fees they are paying on our behalf especially the PMI, but I can buy down the points. Can you please advise me which one seems better? I personally think not having the no PMI make the latter one better, but i’m no expert

Personally without seeing all the information I see the first one as better. The reason being is that as of JAN 1 of this year, PMI is tax deductable. Your payments might be close on both of them, but your PMI will fall off, your rate wont change. Usually after a year, if you submit an appraisal, they will take your appraised value over sales price and remove your PMI (assuming your LTV is below 80%). They will never lower your interest rate.

From limited information I would take the first deal.

Recently my GF was cleaning out her mothers house after she had passed away, she discarded in the trash some vintage baseball cards. She then asked me to haul that trash to the dump.

I retrieved the baseball cards from the trash at the dump and stashed them in my truck, this morning i got the report back from the sportscard grading service, and the appraisal on the cards is over $180,000 wholesale value. They have found me a buyer for $150,000 and i’m tempted to take that offer and not tell her but i feel guilty about not doing so. Opinions please.
